Fidget
Exhibition text

Fidget brings together the work of two recent graduates from Glasgow School of Art’s, Environmental Art course. The joint exhibition of new work in the Park gallery focuses on light and dark both literally and symbolically.

Gary Bolam’s work is often constructed using a lexicon of images, gestures and texts that he has built up over previous exhibitions and is reformed and recreated attentively yet intuitively to create new works. Notably, his work is the sum of all of the individual parts. Yet a scratch beneath the surface of his work reveals a content that asks questions of validity, the fragility of life and the viewer’s role in relation to the works. His work often creates an emotive response.

Lewis Holleran has shown work across Scotland – including two works in 2009’s Edinburgh Arts Festival. Primarily working with video installations, he is interested in atmospherics and lighting, he works with themes central to film noir, immersion and the sensory perception of contrast, rhythm and timing.

It is the first time that these two emerging artists will have shown work together and are expecting to take a reworked version of their show in the Park gallery through to exhibit in Glasgow around the same time as Glasgow International.
