Renowned potter and writer Julian Stair will be launching his new South London studio on the 15th and 16th of May, 2010 to coincide with COLLECT, the premier annual fair for contemporary craft at the Saatchi Gallery, and with the Dulwich Festival’s annual Artists’ Open House. Designed by se5 Architects, the studio includes a mezzanine gallery in which recent and archival works will be on display. Opening hours will be between 11am-6pm, and all are welcome. Julian’s work ranges from pots on ceramic grounds to architectural and monumental work in his trademark palette of greys, reds, black and white. Since graduating from the Royal College of Art in 1981, he has exhibited his work internationally, and has work in over 20 public collections worldwide including the Victoria & Albert Museum and the American Museum of Art & Design. In 2004 he was awarded the European Achievement Award by the World Crafts Council. Julian is Visiting Professor of Ceramics and Theory at Camberwell College, University of Arts, London and was recently a contributor to the Courtauld Institute of Art publication Beyond Bloomsbury: Designs of the Omega Workshops 1913-19.
