Been really rather busy again lately, the LSA summer show opened about a week ago with my sign work #2 on show, however it was the first show my works been in where i have had no say over its installation and was hence fairly disapointed about how it had been done…I had hoped it would be in an open part of the gallery but instead it was pushed up against a wall, also some information was left off my name/info tag (the fact limited edition prints were available) which was dissapointing, but i did however manage to sell a print at the opening anyway!!! And it was a rather large group show (120 artists if i remember rightly) so i cannot complain too much. It was a good experiance and made me realise that everything to do with my work needs describing and explaining before letting it go.
I also returned to napton again to get photo’s of object for moving over #2 and was delighted to see it has been used even more since i was last there… the marks left from its use (object for moving over #2 – stage 2) remind me that the work is a collabaration with an unknown partner and i think that the work naturally evolving with its own public is some thing very important to me, however if it was not being used and this was its public’s response to it i think i would feel quite upset – but at the minuite i’m pleased!!!
I have been working on my rope swings as well and have been platting red, yellow and blue rope into 9ft lenghts which i think will use on my actual swings – this process gives the rope a real solid feel and still mentains quite a minimal aesthetic which is something i am again pleased with… the slightly craft based process of platting also makes me feel the work is somehow more appropriate to the abbey setting it is being made for which i like
