This research symposium and exhibition seeks to identify a pathway that links the academic, the maker and the making. It will focus on how academic research can inform and inspire practical work and how these can work together symbiotically. It will allow participants to connect with the following aspects of engagement with textiles: 1. The use of material: Physical attributes of materials Methodologies 2. Re-assessing values: Academic Digital Shifting perceptions – reconnecting with making and materials 3. The language of material: The ability of material to convey concept History of material The day will include presentations by key-note speakers Maxine Bristow, Amy Houghton and Tim Parry-Williams and will offer an opportunity to see current research work shown in the vaults gallery space at Corsham Court for the day.
