A multi-layered film of people’s hands presented on various screens in a café environment, accompanied by a soundtrack and coasters which provide further insight into the installation. The aim is to create a harmonious art intervention with simple yet beautiful images of hands at rest, in conversation or on their own, echoing the day-to-day actions of people within the café. The artists invite the viewers to see the whole café as part of the installation. They might find that their sight is taken to a pair of hands resting on the next table or drawn to noticing their own hands.At a time when people are bombarded with digital information and a myriad of images, the work aims to be a timely reminder of the beauty of art that is present in the everyday and the importance of simply coming to our senses. Coming To Our Senses has been co-commissioned by the Old Market Hall Film and Media Centre in Shrewsbury and Fracture.
