I have a critique with Leigh Clarke tomorrow. I have 20mins to present and get feedback.
For me presenting is a nightmare. I can never sleep and end up changing the presentation in the early hours of the morning.
Lets hope this time is an improvement.
I’m up in Somerset for a few days break and to do a bit of reading. I’m staying with Adam’s parents and I’ve been doing my best to answer their questions about how I spend my time as a part-time MA student.
It;s reminded me of a project I come across by Lernet and Sander
http://lernertandsander.com/index.php?/projects/ho…
They were impressed, it was a difficult decision but they don’t want to put me through the stress of a huge arts event and concluding my MA.
I went all the way to Dorchester today. I passed the teddy museum and the dinosaur museum. The sun was beating down and I was in my interview suit. If it get this job it will be perfect. The waiting room smelled of onions.
The interview was comfortable – I was qualified, skilled and experienced so I answered their questions easily. Then it came down to my plans for next year, I will be completing my part-time course. I tried to convince them I was capable of the time commitment.
At 5pm I got a call, it wasn’t me. They want to work with me on projects which is good, probably better really because it’s more flexible. Still it’s a disappointment.
I tried to read the book on Gina Pane this afternoon. It makes no sense to me at the minute but I need it to penetrate my head in the next 12 hours as I have to give it back tomorrow. The words and the work just don’t tie up.
At least it was sunny today :)
I had a really good meeting with my supervisor today. She was really positive about my current body of work and how I’ve developed it so far. The question now is what so I present for my assessment.
Next week we have a guest lecturer Leigh Clarke who’s critiquing our work. I mentioned that I was considering reading and eating paper to see how this goes down and then based on this I will figure out what I will do on 17th May.
I got back my roll of film today. On first glance there is nothing. But then you start to see some small marks. I’ve scanned in some of the strip and zoomed in on these marks. Out of the darkness you can see a ghostly face. I love them and I can’t wait to print them. I want to try making them quite large onto handmade paper, just choosing a few of the most interesting ones. I’ve also chatted to the technicians about developing the strip which I expect I will need some assistance with.
Tomorrow I have an interview which I need to prepare for and we have some guests staying at the weekend so I need to get a plan together and prepare for this crit.
