Saturday was rubbish. I spent most of the day pretending to paint and trying not to drink the homebrew that surrounded me. I was Billy.
On Sunday I treated myself to Angry Birds. That was the first thing I did right. The next right thing was to start moving stuff around and take paintings down. This ensured a constant and steady stream of lovely lovely people coming to visit. Some even tried the beer!
Hayling Island in the summer is a bit scary. There must be a man down there who specialises in face tatoos and he knows alot of people. On New Years Day it’s as traditional as the breakfast we stop off for and you’re more likely to bump into someone you would rather avoid from Farnham than the girl with the dragon tatoos on her eyelids.
There’s only one week left to come and see me playing games on my phone so do pop in and save me from my ever growing beer belly.
Open Studio Day Two.
To use the word ‘slow’ would be to deceive the reader into thinking there was movement.
Telephone box is part of the ‘stalking around campsites in the dark’ series. I have since become brave and on a recent trip to Wiltshire, managed to capture a great moment that was something that crossed St Trinian’s and a Carry On. Look out for that one…
Open Studios. Day One.
Balloons out. Signs up. Walls painted. Mass lobelia established. It’s been an hour; Where is everybody?
Day one update. Thank you to everybody who tore themselves away from their own gardens on such a fine day to see what I have been up to. It was a slow start but gained gradual pace. If everyday is as successful I will be very happy. Thanks too Rent a Rabble x
Bike shed had to be build to get the girl’s bikes out of my lovely new studio. 90% is pallet wood and I haven’t quite got round to fitting a door or window. It’s a shocking mess in there but the kids don’t seem to mind!
Cheers. Merry Christmas xx
Favourite Drive Thru’s:
1) Farnborough Gate – Rusthless efficiency, a handy proximity and Comet and Curry’s for a bit of window shopping on a Sunday morning. Marc, if your listening, lets do breakfast.
2) Chichester – Breakfast on the way to Brighton or tea on the way back. With added Goodwood road.
3) Wandsworth – Probably best that I left that job in Chelsea; I’d be a right fat B……
4) Petersfield – They’re all miserable and the parking is rubbish but as a New Years Day brekkie on the way down to the seaside it’s perfect.
McDonalds is a bit like Marmite in that people love or hate it. It’s quite clear that those who say they hate it have obviously never tried the sausage and egg mcmuffins.A very good client is only coming to the open studio, (5-20 June. For further details visit http://www.surreyopenstudios.org.uk/ ), if I give away free tickets to NYC with every painting purchase. I think it’s a great idea, and one I am looking into, although I can’t see many people really wanting to go to Newbury Youth Club.
