A space to map an experimental six month residency in a church..an exploration into listening, relocation and slippage..to slip through the door, to slip through a crack, to slip through one’s fingers, to slip off one’s shoes..

A Barefoot Residency showing at St Johns Church, Pevensey rd, St leonards on Sea,TN38 0JX, as part of PhotoHastings..
At one end of the church a painting is being restored, placed, and ‘illuminated’. This activity pushes me further down through the vaulted arches, to a new place, and I view the space from a different doorway. And so preparation begins for three video pieces denoting the following:
skin/air/movement/gesture/small acts/uncertain journeys
frequencies 1, 2 and 3
1
I have not been in this space for six weeks. It is my final month here and today I walk in circles around my own shoes. An act of separation and continuity.
2
Light spills and gathers on three of the stone columns..I start to project here..I leave a looped film playing , drawing new parameters. In the stairwell, paper tumbles..
3
Today the church has been mapped out differently., and the frequency has altered. I explore all the small lights.
Quiet positioning, repositioning, gathering.
