Haven’t written for a while! Feeling a bit out of the loop to be honest having been home for Christmas, but assessment is looming and i still have 2 paintings i hope to finish! Unfortunately i didn’t get round to experimenting with the modelling paste, but i will have no choice in a week as i’ll have the put down the old oil paintbrush (i daren’t paint less than a week before portfolio submission due to drying time). Anyway, i’ve finally got round to figuring out how to upload pictures to here! So this is the last painting i did before going home- the one i was working on in the studio. I hope to write more soon! Just need to get back into a routine and blogging again. The pieces i’m currently working on (including this one), look at everyday life, mainly the documentation of it. I like painting characters that i don’t know; and they don’t know that i am painting them. I feel as though this naturalness is needed for me to express myself. This painting depicts two buskers with guitars that i saw in Aberystwyth town.

Term ended yesterday for Christmas, and after walking to the seafront this morning I discovered that the studio space was closed (which was a bit gutting really considering all my work is inside and it is the reason why i am staying for an extra week). Anyway, as my oil paints were also inside I remembered i had some acrylic paint at home from the landscape class in first year; I decided to invest in some modelling paste to make it thicker, allowing me to experiment in my usual impasto style. I will get back to the blog once I see how this pans out…
