I have hopefully managed to add my picture next to this blog, it is showing my progression of my painting of a Bouy in water. It is an interesting project for me because I have to work large and loosely. My background is in tight natural history illustrations for example painting a picture to represent exactly what I see in front of me, so it almost looks like a photo. With this picture I am using silver acrylic, I believe I mentioned this in my last blog. I am really enjoying the challenge of blending the shiny surface of the silver with the flatter colours. I am hoping to create something of the oily look sea water has sometimes.
A tip for you, I have been using a plastic tub which has a lid and kitchen roll that is wetted for longer than I would like to mention until the other week when there was no kitchen roll to be had, not all together happy I had a sudden thought of using a baking sheet, now there are most probably loads of you that already do this but it was a major break through for me.
Now what you do is
1) put the sheet into a tub and poor a little water underneath the sheet
2) add your paint to the top surface of the sheet
3) enjoy your painting without it drying out !-)
The good thing is that you do not have to cover the tub once finished if you do not wish to and your paint stays usable for several days or more as long as you top up the water underneath the sheet. One warning, you will be using paint that is a little runnier than you may be used to.
Although I have not finished my picture like I had hoped, generally through life causing a few hiccups here and there, I have managed to tick a few boxes. I have mangaed to sort out my business face book page, created my account with LinkedIn, joined Google places, joined iDorest directories and started to catch up on my business reading. So not too bad a week.
Next week will be showing this picture finished by the end of the week, the building of a Plan of Attack for the working week and some tips on how to do or not to do.
Have a good weekend and see you next week.
Gilly !-)
