I have been working on developing the characters body language for my work in the Degree project. Been thinking about the sorts of feelings the characters will be going through in the narrative of the film.
The two main characters are in love and want to be together. So the couple have strong emotions for each other which are filled with happy moments. They enjoy spending time together and don’t want to be apart.
Danger and action will be in the story which will encourage the characters to take part in brave acts. As a evil force will be unleashed on the world were the characters live. The strongest will stand against them and protect their homes.
Need to map out the story in greater detail and think about were the narrative is going. How it will all start and what will be the final conclusion.
Today I have been working on developing a larger scale charcoal drawing which shows one of the streets within the small town.
I included four shops within the drawing which show some of the ideas I have for the different types of products each one will sell.
Practice writing the shop names in charcoal as it is quiet hard to write neatly with this media on the name boards.
Added more detail to the brickwork and outside of the front of the shop. Such as the window frames and tried to draw more at a angle to give the buildings a more realistic effect. Compared to my usual drawings which I have been doing.
Used the charcoal in the image to capture the shadow and light of the drawing. This creates an interesting contract within the work.
Today I have been working on my Street drawings, I drew over the top of the next image.
I only created a few photographs but from this I could get a scene of how the street will come to life in the final piece.
Such as how the cars will move across one end of the street to another. The shops coming to life, the assistants changing the windows and displaying the different stock.
Need to make sure that I rub out the drawing completely before photographing it or the left over marks effect the next drawing. As they leave marks on the picture making it harder to see more detail.
Need to make sure that I make more frames for each movement of an object. Such as the car so it moves more slowly and does not jump across the scene.
Going to develop my skills further by giving myself a small project.
Going to draw and photograph just the streets of the narrative for my upcoming film for now. Will be adding the characters in later.
Will use charcoal to move each drawing just a little, so that when it all put together can see the street come to life. Example are making the leafs move on the trees or have a car drive across the road over the course of the film. Just to show what is happening on the main street of this small town.
Makes an interesting story within and explores a new way of story telling. This project will help me practice my skills more so that I can gain the knowledge and experience to complete my project.
Now I need to start developing my work further so that I can learn how to make the films look better.
In my film last year the drawings kept jumping when put together in I Movie as I did not have the camera in the right position each time I would set up to take photographs.
So I need to take time to develop this further and learn how to get the camera set up right. This way the finished film will look better this year.
Need to become more confidence with the camera and develop my skills of making animated drawings further. I need to put a lot more time in to it and work faster.
