Over the summer, I was pleased to have had a £4000 energy debt completely written off, so I celebrated with Martinis!
I’m now studying MA Design at the University of Lincoln, so Fine Art practice is reduced.
However, thanks to a fellow student, I was able to go to London to see Michael Craig-Martin’s exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts, and this reminded me of my own degree show back in 2008, where I used drawing tape on the Grade 1 listed Greestone building walls!
It was an inspiring exhibition as I’m working on the Monaco paintings – the next painting is inspired by a recent dream, in which my teenage self was driving a white supercar in the early 1990s!
This will be the next painting.
The last painting was completed over the summer, and depicts a Maserati on the Brayford Pool, outside the old Sam Scorer designed building, which used to be a car showroom, but is now a restaurant.
The couple sitting in the restaurant are actually at the Cafe de Paris in Monaco – I painted them here.
I am aiming to enter the RA Summer Exhibition again next year, as was suggested by the SANE Creative Awards Scheme when my last application wasn’t successful.
I feel as though my work absolutely matches with Michael Craig-Martin’s bold and colourful comic style work, so I’m hoping to be successful this time :-)
