I signed my contract for the design of this job today and spent a morning looking around Oxford City Council Depots for various types of paving materials.
Oxford City Council are amazingly helpful and generous with their resources. The re-claming of materials for art projects is something I enjoy doing and they have pallets of stuff which is end of line or the remaining 1 and a half pallets of 120 pallet car park resurfacing job 4 years ago.
This particular project will also use whats left of a pile of large stones I used before 2-3 years ago. It had been a sculpture in a school field generations ago, and was piled up at the edge of the school boundary and was abandoned for years. When I used some, the left over stones were moved to a public park on the outskirts of Oxford and are now under brambles and those plants with seed pods which just totally stick to your clothes. Now the remaining stones will be another artwork, this time in a different in a different field.
