Artist of the week – Victoria Ley

Easter, Bank Holidays, Royal Weddings, busy couple of weeks, with not much work getting done.

Things have somewhat halted a bit this week. The only thing being pushed forward for Free Range is our Komedia night….

Come help us with the show Seventy Feet by buying tickets for Komedia on 17th May!

This week: Our Artist of the Week is Nick Stamp.

So what have we been up to…?

Well Komedia is up and running! All bands have been confirmed and we are receiving artwork!

Posters look great thanks to a Lloyd Parker on graphics!

Myself and quite a few other third years have been in the studios over Easter – EVERY day. This of course explains the wave of panic and rush to make and finish work!

I’m sure it’s happening in art schools all over the country too.

Anyone else trying to squeeze in a few more exhibitions, organise their lives/career, find a place to live, find some money, ignore the huge amounts of work we have to do…?

We are all currently discussing if we’re going to be making new work for free range or if we will be showing the work from our degree show in Bath…We have about 3 weeks in between I think. More pressure? Or a lie down?

Postcards!! and Business cards!! Another thing to think about.

OK – lets not have a mental breakdown (ARGH)

It will ALL be fine – For all of us.

In the meantime EVERYONE should come to SIGMA/SIM @ Komedia. It’s going to be BIG.

RSVP to our facebook event http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=208349915861845

Good Luck everyone! And maybe have a little break of Easter.

THIS WEEK

Artist of the week Louise Grant.

http://louisegrantart.blogspot.com/

Panic has seriously kicked in!

With just one week before Easter the workshops are packed and the studios are heaving with all sorts of fellow art wanderers.

We have had a free range meeting today – Which quite honestly caused even more of a stir and has panicked us just that little bit more.

WE NEED MONEY.

WE NEED TIME.

WE NEED PEOPLE.

…..and on that note..

The SPRING FLING is on THURSDAY.

If those first years don’t come along there will be a lot of slapped wrists! I swear the third years are more willing to party a week before Easter than the first years are – something’s not right there.

And if you disagree prove me wrong!!

Anyway, Spring Fling on Thursday.

What else, we’ve been organising our big event at Komedia in Bath for 17thMay.

This is going to be GOOOOD. We’ve got:

BERT MILLER AND THE ANIMAL FOLK!

Itchy Fingers

The Unrelated Family

The Jackels

Audrey Costello

and more..

Just that should be enough…but because we want to spoil you..

We will be raffling art work from tutors and technicians of BSAD as well as alumni work and current third year work!!

Names of exciting artists to be announced soon.

That is all for now…

What have we been doing this week…?

Well we have a new artist of the week – Anna Borowicz.

http://annaborowicz.blogspot.com/

Tomorrow we will all be going on the famous Tub Crawl – the traditional BSAD pub crawl. The map for this has been handed down from third years to first years for the past however many years. It is THE best pub crawl of the year – EVERY year! You have to expect to be taken through fields, over fences, to all the little and weird pubs in Bath…there is one rule however..NO high heels. (Trust me you would be a fool if you did wear them, its practically an assault course)

We’re hoping that lots of students from BSAD will take part as it is OUR tradition!

What else is on the menu…

Spring Fling is being advertised here, there and everywhere.

*14th April at the Cork in Bath*

Why not? We have winter and summer balls… and besides Spring is the best time of year (my birthday).

Lovely music, amazing drinks offers and all our lovely faces, who could resist??

So come dressed to impress, perhaps with Easter Bonnets if you wish!

Oh and we have received some applications for the curation of the show – eeek!

It’s all getting a bit too close for comfort now.

..Stay tuned..
