BA(Hons) Three Dimentional Design – Ceramics. It has been a fantastic experience for me though and I have gained much from it. Sadly the course, one of the only single discipline ceramics courses left in the country, has now closed.

The last month has been very intense with lots of late night sessions and working 7 days a week my degree show is finally in place! Things have worked out well with everything falling into place just when it needed to. The nature of art courses means that the work is never really finished, you could always improve on what you have done, so I still wish I had more time. I worked right up to the last minute before having to leave the room, I didn’t even have time to take a photo of the finished display. I have included some images of the build up though just to give an idea of how it progressed. I will post more images of the final display after the private view.
Thrown Slip textured porcelain vessels. inspired by natural patterns and textures in clouds , sand and water. The glazed internal surfaces with unglazed textured pure white porcelain exteriors creating a strong contrast both in the hand and visually.
Corrugated porcelain paper clay, scored and folded to produce geometric forms. Through an experimental approach and attention to detail I strive to find a path between the functional and the sculptural to create objects of interest, beauty and potential function. The unglazed pure white and translucent surfaces play with light and shade creating a sense of movement.
