Core Gallery is hurtling towards ‘ The Eighteenth Emergency’ Opening this Thursday
Brought to us by a-n’s artist talking editor Andrew Bryant who is exhibiting as well as curating an exhibition that brings together the work of iartists Frauke Dannert, Chas Higginbottom, Stefan Sulzer, Burcu Yagcioglu and Daniel P. Lichtmann.
All the artists are Goldsmiths MFA recent graduates or students exhibiting photography, sculpture, installation and video.
Brought together by Andrew in the Core Gallery space, the works individually explore and collectively challenge our society’s own gendered discourses, whether these are implicit or explicit. http://coregallery.co.uk/current-exhibition-2/
Chantelle Purcell who is one of the driving forces of Core Gallery is leaving to do an MA in Kingston , her parting from Core is hugely bittersweet as we shall miss her drive and enthusiasm but know she is going off to great things . Chantelle shall remain an associate and will co-ordinate the Core Gallery interviews which launched with an interview with Andrew, an insightful, informative and enjoyable read

We also managed to get press for our forthcoming exhibitoin Pleasure Parlour in the local newspaper with Mercury. The article although great is littered with typos on the artists names ( you wouldn’t get that on a-n! )
Before the Eighteenth Emergency we worked on the Deptford X submissions, judging day and selection. entries came from as far afield as Iran, Argentina, America as well as European entries, from Switzerland, Holland, France and Germany and the judges has a tough job needless to say.
The group of selected artists includes a number of winners of the Jerwood drawing and painting prizes, including Laura Moreton-Griffiths and Simon Leahy Clark, as well as other prize-winning artists: 2010 Royal Academy Summer Exhibition exhibitor Edd Pearman, and artist James Wright, singled out by Kay Saatchi in the 2008 Selfridges Art Exhibition: Anticipation. The full list is on our website which has been gloriously tweaked by the amazing Charlotte and Jo

Final news for me was a phonecall to say I have been selected for the INg Discerning eye, which means invited…..brilliant ! The funny thing was that I had received a call a month earlier to tell me this but when I got the paperwork, I just thought it was general marketing invitation, so I had not returned the forms, the organiser kindly explained the situation, so the paperwork is winging its way , a little late , but with great excitement !
Other news literally just in is that I have also been selected for the UK Young Artists exhibition in Derby , read more here http://www.ukyoungartists.co.uk/content/who-we-are…
Good news day!
