The Eighteenth Emergency was a wonderful show, very interesting , dynamic and thought provoking. The show finished with a very interesting q& a I led with the artists and curators which gave fascinating insight into the works. Talking with Andrew through his processes of curating and seeing his journey has been a real treat. The gallery is actually like an informal MA for me- I am learning so much.
A wonderful surprise guest on the opening night was none other than Rob Turner, who won the a-n bogger of thhe year award with me last year and who I am sure all of you will have encountered on a-n, artists talking.
I had never met Rob before in person- and he was a delight and really interested in ‘ My empire’ Core Gallery. I hear Emily Speed is coming to London and I am also looking forward to meeting her real self too. Part of these blogs we are all writing here has created for myself many supporters on a-n; Emily, Rob, Andrew Bryant, as well as Sian Hislop, Jane Boyer, MIchaela Nettell and Susan Francis. With the exception of Michaela I knew none of them before these blogs, yet now , I hold them as esteemed colleagues for whom I can go to for advice and support.
On a different note The Pleasure Parlour opens tomorrow.
With my father ,Peter Davis who has been an artist for over 60 years and my partner Enver ( a heady mix for me ) as well as Holly Revell and Kelda Hole ,and a collaboration that will be fascinating and somewhat risque!
Here are two more of Chantelle’s fabulous core gallery interviews to accompany the show.
