I did a series of experiments in PS1 today using 3 footballs…
I started by just randomly kicking them around but soon started to develop patterns and went on to writting instructions for other people to experiance these same process’
It wasn’t actually a work itself but i think things came up that could become works…
Plenty of meetings today – a welcome to professional pratice meeting which i feel i’ve already got a bit of a head start with thanks to applying to exhibitions over the summer through this very website amongst others…the second meeting was a feedback about course changes and a chance for us to whinge at course leaders… although the way i see it there are no real problems with the course or facilities!??!?!
I did some more work on my playstation model and tided some of the cables on my billboard piece, printed off some more google street view images
and then spent the rest of the day trying to sort out my performance/experiment at PS1 which i’m setting up tomorrow, i got 6 footballs got them into the studio and instantly lost 1…then spent AGES trying to find vinyl lettering which i’m picking up tomorrow morning
I also packaged up a text work printed on accertate ready to send off to space station 65 for the big society exhibition…
TODAY WAS LOAN DAY!!! This ment i got properly started on my PLAYSTATION version of object for moving over #2… I got 4 versions of tony hawks pro skater which features a “skatepark editor” which I have started using to digitaly model napton skatepark where the work was installed. Only having the pre-set objects was at first quite difficult but I soon realised it actually mirrors this countrys current methods of building skateparks where objects are picked from a catalogue and dumped on cement!
I also finished the first coat of my sign writting and will be giving it a 2nd coat tomorrow and will be attaching the solar panels and lights i have for it if i have time after (or maybe before) our dissertation meeting… Handing in my proposal form for that is quite nerve racking!!!
I sorted out the newley named project space 1 for an experiment in relation to the sites space using footballs which I’m calling objects for exploring space with #1 and am doing on friday. All I’m putting into the space is going to be a wall text and 3 footballs. There will also be a disclaimer outside the space which will need to be signed and will become documentation…
Another piece of work I started today that i have been considering for a while is a collection of photographs taken from google street view of walls like those which i have been working on over the past few months…
We had a mapping1 project meeting today and are having an exhibition from the 25th of november which will run as a programmed part of a city wide arts festival with a book being published once it closes… need to get work sent from holland over to here and finalise what were all showing… I’m re-installing my cycle performance i did at the works exhibition last year but am going to modify the work so that my milage can be viewed by the audiance we’re also thinking about skype link-ups so that all the artists can be “present” at the private view – all seems quite exciting!!
Also been woring in the studio some more and got hold of some DVD’s and CD-ROM’s of new media works to investigate over the weekend…
I also spotted some of the APVD off-site works from the ikon show opening tonight which looks really good and will be popping along to eastside tomorrow to investigate more fully…

The briefing meeting was as boring as I predicted, it was a lot of information that we had already been given being read to us from the same format we were origanally given it from!!!
Had an intresting studio meeting though where we discussed how we are planning on using space and ways we could save space for showing work on a temporary basis.
I also carried on working with my billboard/wall…
I am intrested in walls and networks. They are our experiance.
