Been back in the studio this week!!! feels sooo good…
I’ve been working on the actual structure of my walls / billboards and have been undercoating a board to go onto it…
I’ve also been preparing photo’s for making digital prints and got some more books for my reading list. Also submitted work to a few exhibitions which I’m waiting to hear on…
Got our initial L6 briefing tomorrow and a meeting about the mapping1 project on friday…
Thats this week!! Glad to be back, glad to be working properly, waiting for my loan!!!
Well thats it, this epic summer has come to an end!!! Back to uni next week, although i spent the last week there working on the studio re-build and am back on monday to finish off a few of the studios…
Been doing more drawing and have started mocking up models of work I intend to make / have started making already… its been intresting to see how the objects will actually occupy space even if it is on a tiny scale!!!
Been filling in forms and doing other such boring things like the online enrolment for uni as well
And of cause still been reading alot as well as listening to interviews / lectures with various people downloaded from the tate website which have been really intresting and has helped me in statring to consider the actual format of my dissertation… I’m stating to consider some sort of podcast or radio-play which features the artists i’m discussing in conversation with each other where I become the narrator providing elebration and furter information on whats just been said…MAYBE???
I’ve been thinking a lot about my text works over the last week or so and particually how they will be seen or precived by a wider audiance when installed. This made me think about the most contemporary form of language which would speak to the public at large and i decided upon txt msg speak…
I’m considering using it in manifestos, work titles, sign works and other such things but again i’m just waiting to get back in the studio…
Only 1 more week until that happens!!! Until then i’m working on the studio re-builds which i can see being a knackering weeks work!!!
still been drawing and writing a lot as well…
been undercoat painting and came across a problem i had been anticipating… the paint is starting to clog the cut-out sections of my wall – my paint scraper is too big to fit in so i figure once the final coat is on i will but a tiny metal file and restore the edges back to natural wood…
I might even then colour them in a diffrent hue of the colour used, i might also use this as an oppertunity to combine matt and gloss finishes??
I really wish i had some cash so i could get on with building the supports for the board…roll on late september and the return of student loans!!!
Recently i haven’t had chance to make work as i was predicting in my last post, however, i’ve been reading alot and am making some good headway into my reading list… i have finished instillation art: a critical history and have started on the art of participation: 1950 to now.
I’ve also been writing and have uploaded a shortened version of my review of the out yer tree walk and talk event onto the interface reviews section on this website. It wasn’t particually thought through i just wanted to see how much i could write in an afternoon in preperation for my disertation… i got to 1654 words… which i dont think is too bad.
To be able to do this i have obvisouly attened said exhibition and have been hunting for research in other places as well and had some sucess in finding an actual block in the style of those i have been making…not the same pattern but still good to have.
i’ve also been drawing and making alot of notes and am looking forward to making some work again…
