In keeping with the theme of my exhibition here at The Steadings Gallery, I’ve entered three of my mixed media Shop Front paintings for the May BoldBrush Art Contest.

I’ve created these paintings using collage as a base layer and then painting in acrylic using a palette knife. The combination of the collage and palette knife painting forms a textured effect that draws your eye into all the nooks and crannies that the paint and pattern have settled into.

Three of my Shop Front paintings (including the one on all my exhibition posters and my May calendar painting) are entered into this month’s art contest – I’d be delighted if you could vote for one or any number of them that take your fancy

I’ve entered three of my Shetland charcoal landscapes for the April Boldbrush Art Contest.

As you may know, these charcoals were drawn on gorgeously textured hand-made paper during my recent residency on Shetland. Whenever I was out and about on the island and something caught my eye, I pulled over and started to work and coax the charcoal into the grain of the paper.

And so they’re now entered into this month’s art contest – I’d be delighted if you could vote for one or any number of them that take your fancy ;)

I’ve decided to celebrate life drawings as my theme for my March Boldbrush art contest entries. Life drawing is the practice that underpins all of my artwork and it was such a relief to find a way of continuing online whilst the in-person sessions have been on hold. It’s the foundation from which all of my inspiration springs!

I’d be delighted if you could vote for one or any number of them that take your fancy .
