Throughout the bursary I have been working both on taking a piece through all stages of the casting & finishing process and intermittently working on Scartworks other commissions as and where I was needed. I’m not quite sure which part of the process I enjoyed most, the relatively small scale of Scartworks worked so well for the bursary as I have been able to work across the different stages. I have left the bursary feeling inspired to continue working with and developing new work through these processes.
Earlier this month, and off the back of our respective a-n bursaries and shared interests in access to fabrication space in Manchester, Lucy Harvey and I initiated a gathering of few of artists who are working in sculptural disciplines and outsource process in their work. We used the meeting to start a conversation around access to facilities in the region and how we can begin to address and hopefully improving this. We generated lots of ideas, some for more immediate support, improving knowledge, skill sharing and generally better communcation of what is available through a central resource to more long term needs for production space. You can read about Lucy Harvey’s bursary here
Moving into the New Year I’m looking forward to working with Scartworks again, developing new ideas through the processes I have learned and meeting up with the newly formed Sculpture club!
Thanks for your support a-n, it is much appreciated!
