The show is coming closer and there is a very productive buzz going through the studio. We have each been allocated a space in the studio building where we will be showing work in the degree show. I think nearly everyone got the space they had requested, so no bad feelings.

I’m getting on pretty well with my project.I have been working with domestic objects which I filmed on their own in white spaces. I have decided to show these videos as an installation which includes six tv screens. This week I built a large shelf which will hold the tv screens. The shelf will be free standing in the space and the visitor will first see the backs of the tvs and then have the possibility to go around the structure to see the screens. I believe that the Tvs are an important part of the work, and I want them to be seen as objects and not just screens.

At the moment I am mostly working on the narrative that unfolds between the different videos shown on the six tv screens. Also I still need to work on the timing – a very important aspect of the films!
Then fixing and painting the shelf and trying it out with the tv screens – looking forward to that – am curious if it will look anything like it does in my head right now!

A video I made in the beginning of the third year, in October, which shows different household objects on a split-screen. The appliances start one after another, their sounds adding up, getting louder and creating an uncomfortable, not exactly homely atmosphere. I put this work aside for a while as I wasn’t completely happy with it. Now I have come back to working with household objects, this time showing them on several tv screens instead of one split screen. I will post photos of this project soon.

A Stop-Frame Animation I made a few months ago. It was the first time I used this media. I found it fitting as a narrative can be created very easily but effectively.
The work explores the use of simple lines in space to suggest a house. The exchangeability of living spaces and the importance of possessions to make a space appear homely are explored.
