Mobile art
I have been so busy with Forth Valley Open Studios that I have had little time to promote my exhibition.
Fortunately the Press Officer, Frank Sullivan, for Stirling University Innovation Park produced an excellent press release which generated lots of good publicity so I didnt have to bother.
Delighted to see over 40 people turn up last Sunday afternoon to my exhibition opening at Scion House, Stirling University Innovation Park.
Many were intrigued with the iPhone pix but sales were nil.
The following conversation was overheard:
“I like the work and I would buy it if it was the original.”
“But the original is in the computer.”
So were does this leave digital artists?
Have been frantically busy with Forth Valley Open Studios – we are up and running now with a fantastic committee of people with a wide range of expertise including business, marketing and PR skills.
My solo exhibition officially opens tomorrow with a private viewing in Stirling University Scion House Innovation Park.
This has already had some good publicity because of the technology I am using – drawing on my IPhone .
I was in yesterday checking it and noticed one young man prodding one of my IPhone images – clearly he expected to be able to interact with it.
And thats it these days. People who consume culture are no longer satisfied to stand passively in front of an image, they want in some way to be able to interact with it.
Well, I guess we artists have only just started down the digital path …..heaven knows what the future holds.
But one thing we can be certain: it will be very different to what we know now.
And exciting!…
Art on the move
A press release about my IPhone pix for exhibition next week in Scion House, Stirling University Innovation Park has just been sent out by their PR Department.
( see my blog:www.annshaw.blogspot.com)
I think it is appropriate that an art exhibition using innovative technology should be launched in such a setting – this is just a fluke!. It certainly wasn’t planned. I happened to be working on it when the exhibition came up so I decided to include some of the images.
Problem though: how much do you charge?
