Well, I have just completed an application for funding for a sound installation this summer in the Trossachs. A former colleague of mine, Rob Mulholland, Glasgow School of Art, is organising a sculpture trail and inviting artists to submit proposals.
(Our local arts officer came up trumps – very helpful – she had been away sick hence the delay).
Oh yes and Stirling University Business Park are inviting artists to submit ideas for their art gallery.
So, it is all go …despite the snow.
Am in final stages of proof-reading etc. in other words I am coercing friends to read the manuscript for me. Dr Reeves in London has also got an entourage of readers lined up, including academics. Sometimes I wonder how on earth a book ever gets published.
Now got a launch date for the book: May 1st. It had to be put back a couple of weeks cause things were behind schedule.
I've joined Facebook- great way to keep in contact with ex colleagues from Glasgow School of Art and I've got an Iphone. This has revolutionised the way I use the web. It frees me from the computer- I carry it around with me and can check emails, text, take photos, post them. The only thing the Iphone wont do is video and send photos direct to a blog. But I am sure that will come.
Meanwhile I have begun the tricky process of applying for funding from our local arts officer for a project. Having downloaded the pages of forms I am required to fill in I am not surprised that there has been a dearth of applicants. In fact they have extended the deadline to encourage local artists to apply. Quite frankly the whole process is daunting.
They claim to make it easy by advising you to contact your local arts officer for "advise" before beginning the daunting process of filling in the forms. I did and she suggested I send in some ideas to see which would be acceptable to the committee.
I am still waiting to hear from her….
We are in the final stages of editing the book and my blog is proving once again to be an invaluable resource material.
Names, dates etc that need to be checked and double-checked are easily done using the search facility.
Also it is useful for maintaining public interest and community involvement too.
BBCTV Alba carried a documentary last night on TB in Scotland which echoes many of our own findings.
They spoke about it being as much a social disease as a physical one. People were frightened and regarded it as similar to leprosy.

Now that my book "Children of Craig-y-nos" is well on the way to being "wrapped up" I can get back to making videos.
Have just filmed and uploaded to Youtube today one of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders marching through Stirling after their return from Afghaninstan.
Go to: <a href="http://www.Youtube/annshaw">

OK it doesn't work…try going through my web-site: annshaw.net (using the link at the top of the blog)
PS Am I the only one who finds it a real pain in the neck to upload images to this site? as for video…forget it.
Have just re-built my web page using Apple Iweb:

will the links work? that is the million dollar question.
Visited the Gerhard Richter show in Edindburgh yesterday – magnificent!
