BA in Sculpture. I think it is the only true ‘sculpture’ (by title) course left in the UK, at least that is what I heard, but that doesn’t make any difference.
Course is compiled within four years of three elements: studio practice, research drawing and visual thinking, and professional practice.
The latter now being the most important.
It's funny how suddenly, due to the degree shows, professionalism comes out of nowhere. I agree with it. 100%. Perhaps even more than that, and although it creates a grand environment to work in, I can't help but wonder if it's all a bit too late.
Is this even what I'm meant to be writing?
I think it would be a good idea for students to get a fund for their degree show. Surely we have earned it after three/four years of hard work. Could be interesting.
Lack of space in the college isn't helping me define my degree show, either. There is a space in the basement, big space, re-painted by yours truly and now I've never been so sick of a space. Hmmm.
Professionalism. Professionalism. Professionalism.
