George is not progressing as well as I expected! Also, I feel like some of the realisations I’ve had about the work / project – could potentially be compromised by some similar work by someone else….This has brought up some old wounds for me, and a typical trauma response – both of which this is all about. We all have the right to self expression. And that underpins this project! I feel l like I’ve been waiting to be given permission to go onto the next part of my story when I was going to tell it anyway…. Cryptic I know, but I’m sure other artists out there can relate when you see similar work/themes etc being explored by other artists. We are all free to tell our own story.
Come on George (and Clare!) You can do it!
So anyway…after completing the deep listening course a few weeks ago, I started the second phase of this self directed development work – the SCOBY and my first kombucha. Hopefully!
I just thought I’d check in here to say, an update is imminent, but ‘George’ (my starter brew – named after both my dad, cos I used his kitchen to brew the tea, and the late George Floyd, because I received the brew and the kit a yer to the day that he was murdered in Minnesota) is doing just fine, one week to the day that they were, well, born, I guess.
Aside from the excitement of all this, I’ve been inspired by everything from my online Faculty artists course I’m currently on, to my Buddhist group meeting and current Wirral Circular Trail walks.
It’s all about connection, and when I do have the time, (I should be deep listening to a zoom right now!) I will go deeper into whats been happening, thematically, creatively and fermentally in the past 4 weeks so please stay tuned.
In the meantime, here’s some pics of the birthday brew itself. One week on. Can I get an ‘Arrrr’, please?
