A very productive day yesterday. The place really starting to shape up into an explorable space.
The Living Room became an inviting space with only minor features to be added, and off course the all important video installation to be done.
Commercial Display I Is ready and I am satisfied with the outcome, it is what I envisaged..completely different but the exact replica of the context that is within it.
The Sale Area got its main outlines at the ready and most items are in their places.#Waiting for ebay to deliver the order so I can put up all the drawing and let the bargain began!
The project started to appear as an actual existing entity. Multiple assests of the show appear and change constantly. A small evolution of many worlds.
I hope this will be close to what I imagined.
Living Room:
Main features are in place and started to get a homely feeling. Videos beeing converted ( thanx to Andy Preston) and I can almost see the people becoming a part of all this to make it a reality.
Commercial Display I:
Most layers are in place and an overall feeling of Christmas grotto mixed with yearly expo forming into a whole.
Some elements to be placed and changis are still coming.
Sale:
The sale area is the one that needs a lot of work. I must bring all elements to one place to see where I’m going and how it will appear as a whole.
Most stands are in place and some wall-pieces are installed ,but there are plenty of work to be done.
It is nothing like its will be..
it must become the place I intended it to be.
and its all mine….. I got the gallery all to myself and started building and shifting the work. Very exciting indeed.
Still lot to do but I love the period of installation when everything I have been thinking about for months will come to reality and probably-based on experience- change considerable thrue the process.
Step one is assembling all the base structures and moving in the furniture for the Living Room.
Half of this was done today with lots of time spent on selecting, measuring and sawing wood, and scanning and printing images.
Tomorrow will allow me a more rounded outlook as to how the whole project will look.
Keep following
and don’t forget the opening is on this Friday from 19:30
so much to do!!!
:)
Getting involved in the Sound and Vision events gave me a chance to explore ideas of stage-set/background that should work in certain situations.
The first outcome was a structure strictly designated for this event. It was erected for one day with a lifting the acts out of the surroundings and giving them a special set up.
The second time happened upon through me being asked if i can rebuild the structure for Swindon Open…of course i said yes, as I felt it did not reach its full potential and their was much more to it then that one day allowed.
The second instance of Stage-set/corridor evolved into a fully interactive environment, a place to wonder through re-arrange add-to and take-from.
I placed a camera above the gallery exit and run a live-feed through..so in the corridor present happenings could be watched.
Besides the life-feed there were a half hidden video made by me:
I Promise I Will never Die
The overall feel of the piece was an embrrassment of contemporary culture, with its over commercialized mega-information blasts.
I used bright colours, reflective surfaces, lighting, commercial materials, and everyday objects, such as electronics (old PS1,joystick..) and stuffed toys, magazines etc
I shall attache some images and a video to demonstrate the idea
please let me know what u think
feedback is always appreciated.
