In completing my Professional Development project, just a reminder that I have created a summary of the two courses I completed including lots of images, useful information and a guide to resources.
Please view the workshops here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8jiN-ymPIs
I hope other artists benefit from this resource!
Envision: on line workshops – available for all!
Envision – valuable new skills in practice!
I have now completed the project enabled by my a-n Professional Development Bursary. The new skills I have learned are enabling me to work on ideas for forthcoming projects. I have just completed a model for an installation in a healthcare environment. I built a 1:25 scale model of a standard bedroom using HIPS, which I cut using a scalpel and assembled with liquid cement. With the space constructed, I am able to record lightfall and to explore how this can be altered with the addition of reflective elements and illuminated materials. This is a concept model rather than a presentation model and I am able to take away walls and replace them with different materials to explore effects. I then record photographically the various lighting scenarios. The building techniques I learnt on the recent course are really coming into play!
Pictured here is the model I have made. I have also used my new SketchUp skills to create 3D drawings of the room, which again are proving really valuable in visualising my ideas. The room is one of one of a series of venues I am exploring in an Arts Council funded project entitled: ‘En’Light’en – an exploration of light and sensation’. I have created a blog recording the various stages of this project and I will be updating it with images of work in progress over the next months:
