The journey I am taking as someone who has enjoyed creating for years but has started to make his work available for others to see. Collaborations and many other projects are in the works, so will keep this updated with everything that’s going on.
January so far has gone to plan.
I am currently finishing some work for a show in Liverpool which I am entering a couple of pieces.
I have been accepted for a group exhibition in Manchester with the chance of a further show later in the year.
I have been talking again with a couple of artists about collaborations furthering some discussions we had last year.
A new series of stencils will be started on this week after a random thought I wrote down a while ago became clearer this week.
A new series of stencils will be made each week during February and made available through the store.
Some new photos to add to site as well, so best get on with it. Feels good to be this active
I have started on my new years resolution of making sure January is one of my most productive months yet. I have recently been made redundant so have a lot of time to sort things out and prepare for my exhibition and work on some new ideas
I am working on an idea for a stencil based image with several layers and colours so am working on a couple of test pieces today to see how it would look and work. The idea is to produce quite a large pice as the final image, maybe even a full landscape or ‘traditional’ painterly image made out of many stencils.
The sidetracked blog will be added to in the next week as I restart my journey and head to some of the more unusual, less touristy site along the coast of Cumbria.
Am looking for some collaborative work as well, as a couple of artists I have been in touch with are interested in working together and some good ideas have been talked about, so hoping to have more of this kind of work available in the future.
Right back to cutting out these damn stencils
Have now added a facebook page to the growing Developmental Hell empire. Have started my plan of action for the next year, concentrating on finishing the Sidetracked project and making sure it is ready for showing in early 2012.
Has been an eye opening experience trying to get my artwork noticed rather than just using art as a passion and something to take me away from other things. I am enjoying the challenge and looking forward to what the future brings.
Today I received confirmation that my debut solo exhibition will be held at the Dock Museum in Barrow in Furness in Jan / Feb 2012. Exact dates are to be confirmed in the New Year, but am very excited to have the chance to finally show a good selection of my work. It will be ‘Sidetracked’ that will be shown and work is now under way to sort out what I need to do in the coming year to make sure that the show is the biggest success it can be.
Am open to any suggestions of how to go about the promotion and press releases for the show. I know the gallery will provide some, but I am looking for a year long plan of what and when to do it, so if anyone can help, please feel free.
Things now finally seem to be moving forward for me after a year of trying. I am regularly updating my website at www.web.me.com/stephenfallows and have now added an online store at www.developmentalhell.bigcartel.com to help to get a little bit more exposure. I am working towards my first exhibition, which is due for 2012 and have recently started getting some work lined up for the coming year, which include music videos, a short film and commissioned photography as well as my usual personal projects and documents of my traveling.
