The first weekend at Cuckoo Farm Studios has gone by at lighting pace. I managed to make a new work, White Fish with Sweetcorn Salad. Which as planned will be left in the communal barn area of the farm, with the tenants left in charge of feeding the fish and keeping the whole system in check. It will be interesting to see how this work fares, if the plants survive and how the fish get on. I may need to change it slightly when I go back in a couple of weeks and make the tank for the fish slightly larger.
This work will act nicely as a reference for the coming months to see how I can develop these self sustaining grow your own ready meals. Any problems that arise within this system should be designed out in forth coming iterations.
So I have officially started work on my residency work at Cuckoo Farm Studios. Ill be arriving at the studios next Friday, just in time for there open studios that weekend.
Ill be arriving with a piece of work along the lines of 24 hour 6 month convenience (title image) . The piece consisted of a couple of fish and a potato plant which was used as a filter for the cycling water. With the aim being to feed the fish and then have your own super ethical fish and chips dinner several months down the line from purchase.
Hopefully I will be able to leave the new work in the hands of the permanent residences at the studios for them to take care of over a period of months. With the aim that some time in the future they will be able to use what it has produced for a meal.
