It’s a chance to see some of the finest in contemporary screen-based art, and promises to deliver a wide range of artworks, all inclusive and engaging.” – Rachel Jeffcoat

DIGPreview: Fundada Film Festival

Fundada Artists’ Film Festival (FAFF) is a non profit, contemporary film and video event run by artists. The aim is to allow artists to show their full potential and show the best in contemporary screen-based art from across the globe. At this year’s event the art will be selected from the international open call by Alice Bradshaw and Nancy Porter. This free event based at Square Chapel, Halifax will take place 14th – 22nd August 2010. During this period Fundada aims to show art is not only fun and inclusive but conceptually strong and critically engaged as well.

The wonderfully-acronymed FAFF will be starting off with an inaugural event dedicated mostly to the all-but-forgotten medium of VHS. “VHS VJ” Barry Valentino will be making his first ever UK appearance with his unique act in which he plays ten VHS players strung around his neck, mixing the images and projecting them through a digital projector strapped to his head. Of course.

The festival will continue throughout the week with screenings and performances each day. Check the blog for more details: http://fundadaartistsfilmfestival.blogspot.com/
