lots of washing done and a bit of catchup from the last 3yrs ‘stuff’

went to campberwell degree shows today with son whos going to start foundation. v.interesting and so many courses. it feels good there.

toes closer to the edge.

this degree show thing is a long drawn out process. the marking was done last week and our pv is thurs and the show goes ontill mon. two weeks inbetween deadline-show. there has been some last minute rep stuff to deal with, just as i thought i could stop with the diplomacy. its created a bit of a hooha, i didnt want to end on a hooha, its made me want to leave tho and not squat my studio, so thats good i suppose.

the finger had another op monday, hopefully the last one.

want to get on and make work, dive into the deep end. feels as if im hovering on the end of the diving board at the mo with my toes over the edge.

it rained at the weekend. it would have been good if it had done it before. the zinc tis not shiny no more. it has a puddle which is v.good but the dullness and the silt washed from the surroundings is making the etching hard to see. cant do much about that now tho. will polish and oil it after marking is done and then it should be restored for degree show.

was invigilating for a bit today and it felt really odd knowing that my work was being marked, i actually hid in the toilet for a bit coz i didnt want to catch the tutors eye when he came out, gave up after 5mins tho as i felt a fool.

ordered business cards today after designing it with my photoshop savy son, now moving on to a website, wow.

really tired.

yesterday was deadline day. v.strange day. minor problems with dvd player in the morning requiring another. dont think i had lunch, probably didnt help with the surreal feeling.

deadline was at 7. someone jumped on my etching at 5. apparently they were So excited at seeing it they ran and jumped on it. standing would have not been wonderful but it would have been ok, but Jumping. ben came from metal and we made it a bit less warped,and i said it was ok, but after a night of little sleep and one of pondering, its not. i looked at my documentation photos this morning and it confirmed my gut feeling. we have to go and sign off our work today so i will see if i can make my gut better.

going to tidy up the ends today, drill holes for wires, clean and paint the bit on the windows where im projecting, sweep and clear. trying to decide wether to put background documentation, have been thinking what i should include and write, but then again i do like work to speak for itself. does it need context, is the question, ? .

took some photos whilst the sun was out which were better than the grey ones. want it to rain now so to see if it forms a puddle.

seems strange its all ending, its been there for three years, now its moving on time. part of the context behind the etching – feels like im on the edge of a cliff and im going to have to keep running off the end and see how long i stay up.
