yesterday was deadline day. v.strange day. minor problems with dvd player in the morning requiring another. dont think i had lunch, probably didnt help with the surreal feeling.
deadline was at 7. someone jumped on my etching at 5. apparently they were So excited at seeing it they ran and jumped on it. standing would have not been wonderful but it would have been ok, but Jumping. ben came from metal and we made it a bit less warped,and i said it was ok, but after a night of little sleep and one of pondering, its not. i looked at my documentation photos this morning and it confirmed my gut feeling. we have to go and sign off our work today so i will see if i can make my gut better.
going to tidy up the ends today, drill holes for wires, clean and paint the bit on the windows where im projecting, sweep and clear. trying to decide wether to put background documentation, have been thinking what i should include and write, but then again i do like work to speak for itself. does it need context, is the question, ? .
took some photos whilst the sun was out which were better than the grey ones. want it to rain now so to see if it forms a puddle.
seems strange its all ending, its been there for three years, now its moving on time. part of the context behind the etching – feels like im on the edge of a cliff and im going to have to keep running off the end and see how long i stay up.
yey, the etching is in. relief and a dance round the roof with my1styrhelper, who has been sooo helpful, its good to have someone reliable and supportive at this point, especially when the 3rdyrfriends are so busy concentrating on our own stuff that that support network has had to give slightly.
going to catch up with stuff at home and edit today. oh, and drink tea.
half term. helpful. im lucky that the kids are older, otherwise id be really stuck. they are being entertained tomorrow so im planning to get the space and etching finished. didnt do it friday as studio manager wanted to oversee me taking the paving up so security didnt have a fit when looking at the spy camera footage, and he didnt have time fri. the frame is in today and ive got the v.magic sticky tape that will hold the etching to the steel frame, oh and the brasso in my bag, so its all systems go in the morning. got a rep meeting in the afternoon, last one. tried out the projection on saturday and it works, got to alter the edit to half a screen tho so its smaller. got so much editing, should be ok, at least i can do it at home and be here for the kids too.
been getting lots done, moving plinths lugging etching from print to space with my1styrhelper, filling and sanding. going to put it on the terrace tomorrow. exciting stuff.
