I am still working on my paintings although progress seems rather too slow for my liking!
Compared to my banners I am finding the straight lines and clear cut edges difficult to achieve and the blocks of colour are having to be built up layer by layers to give the surface finish I want.
I ask myself again – Why am I painting my images when the images work so well as prints and the process of creation of the final image is achieved by someone else.
I do think the paintings help me develop my ideas and images.
I wonder if I would feel different about my images if they were continually reproduced perhaps as a multiple print!
Am I into print or paint the dilemna continues. Am I both!?
Very heavy day today. Handed final draft of dissertation in – although this was optional. Its almost there, just a bit more tidying up to do with the bibliography and the illustrations. I shall be glad to receive the last lot of feedback so that I can finish it for good. I've enjoyed doing all the research and have learnt a lot from it, but I will be very happy to hand in the final, final version on the 25th of March.
The week has just flown with the dissertation referencing taking up alot of time and so much yet to do.
It has been exciting to get my banners back from the printers and to see them in full colour has been a real buzz. The scale, vibrant colour and flatness of the surface has been a real highlight and I can't wait to see them hung up together they will have a marvellous impact.
The painting is still progressing but ideas are now buzzing around my head of where to take this project next!
Though the world seems to stop for others at half-term no such luck. The dissertation weighs heavily and the constant pressure to complete the next unit is always there. The painting has now started and the banners are ordered. I hadn't realised how much ICT knowledge I have gained and felt I could hold my own discussing a private view invite the technical director of a firm I am dealing with. At least a n blog gives me time to reflect and the discipline to do it. Thank you
I had a peer group crit today and I feel that my ideas and work are all coalescing. Focus is good. Banners are now in the process of being printed and health and safety is as ever getting in there somewhere. I have started some paintings linked to my banners which I am excited about.
