I am excited to say that I have been awarded a DYCP grant from Arts Council England to visit Silicon Valley in April. The aim of my trip will be to connect with artists in the area who are working with digital media and find out more about how they are responding to the challenges of the internet age.
My visit will take in some of the iconic sites in the Silicon Valley area, and I will be meeting up with artists and arts organisations in San Jose, San Francisco and beyond to find out how they are responding to the challenges and opportunities that the internet and new media present.
I will also be recording some transatlantic episodes of my podcast Something To Do With Art. In the second phase of my project, I will be using the results from my researches to prototype some new work and share my experiences – details in due course.
My itinerary is already shaping up nicely, but please do let me know if you have any thoughts about places, people, galleries and/or museums that I might visit – all suggestions welcome!
This blog will be a travelogue of my adventures and will start in earnest when I leave in early April.
So bookmark this page and check back in a couple of weeks to find out how I get on.
Many thanks to Arts Council England for supporting this project.
