5/06 Dover – First meeting with the Dover team – Joanna and Clare and Pierre-Yves Brest, the appointed artist from France. Over a delicous lunch we discussed the direction of the project and resources available locally – very excited by Western Heights – a Napoleonic fortress and a selection of pillboxes that Clare had found in the local paper.
Not clear about the direction my part of the project will take – this early bit is always unnerving, but it takes a while for everything to sink in and for approaches and ideas to bubble up.
Pierre-Yves speaks very good english and feel sure I need to do more homework with ‘Ma France’ before I go to St. Omer !
Sites in and around Dover for the final work include a large screen which can be positioned anywhere and a shop front in the town centre – both of which have lots of potential.
Time to start planning !
