I am very proud to present the final version of the film about Made in Korea. This short documentary traces the cross-cultural, multi-faceted project that took place over the course of a year in the UK and Korea. This is the latest in a series of films produced since 2014 in collaboration with Tela Films.
The film starts with my AIDF funded trip to Korea in autumn 2016 to research the project, where I met some of the exhibiting artists and recorded and filmed them working, as well as visits to ceramic centres, residencies and museums, gathering reference material to inform my own work. It then covers the exhibition featuring 15 Korean ceramists at The Ceramic House which toured to Sladmore Contemporary. Following that, the two Korean artists in residence who worked in my studio at Phoenix Brighton alongside me, all of us making our pieces for British Ceramics Biennial. The film documents the Biennial at Spode Works, including Joseph Young’s sound piece, the Celadonaphonic app which was launched in Stoke-on-Trent and Seoul, and finishes with the exhibition and performances at Mullae Resonance Festival, Seoul Art Space Mullae, which was part of the British Council UK-Korea 2017-18 season. The project was funded by the Arts Council of England.
