Portal (2011)
The beginning of a new series of ideas for 2012 dealing with the suggestion of a space beyond or behind the fabric of an existing room. Built in to the wall of an existing space, this piece suggests the possibility of there being something beyond the existing boundaries. At first, the space appears flat, almost as a projection, but as you move around it begins to reveal itself and the space beyond. The space remains ambiguous and it is difficult for the eye to figure out the dimensions, that is until the viewer ventures closer and leans into the space, revealing its depth and what appears to be a light portal through the fabric of the surrounding room to a space beyond.
