I went to Copenhagen for the show of artist Adam Fenton. Adam, who often paints landscapes had constructed a tearoom as an all-encompassing ‘Victorian’ experience. The serious nature of a crafted traditional painting staple was expertly contrasted by Adam’s performance in the guise of a Victorian gentleman, creating quite a surreal experience. Projected on the far wall, a film depicting Adam walking through the same landscapes framed and hung on the walls. The show was popular, guests drank beer, Earl grey tea as well as Gin and tonic from teacups. Just the right level of serious and absurd in my opinion. A great show and a fantastic time meeting many interesting people.

Here are a few pictures from the studio, with a newly finished triptych. Not named it yet. The title would have to incorporate stages of dissolution. Rebirth cycle or something like that. Point of fact all the images are painted on purposely  damaged canvases. If your running a wash on a canvas you can engineer the way is runs by cutting holes in the surface of the canvas.

Spent the afternoon in the studio, got plenty done. Currently working towards two London shows in July and August. I will give out more details soon

Today in the studio, a bit on the cold side…no central heating. I’ve also been given some sand from a middle-eastern dessert. Not decided what I’m going to use it for yet. Presumably something rich in meaning and conceptual etc.

Currently in the process of remodeling the studio, nothing too drastic just tidying up the stairway. We may be throwing open studio events in the near future when work is complete. Just confirmed two exhibitions in London one in July and the other in August. I will be listing the details here as soon as available.  There will be some new work on show for the first time at both events.
