To investigate and expand on ideas that emerged towards the end of my postgraduate research; the presence of the body, a desire to explore materials more fully and the importance of space- to think, move, and make intuitively

Again its been an excessively long time and it makes me wonder, why blog if not consistently? I like the idea, yet so many other things seem to be the priority, making work for a start-I’m continuing on with my series of drawings and am now up to 49, which doesn’t seem many given that its only 13 drawings since April. I guess teaching, having a garden makeover to accommodate a new and slightly bigger studio all sinks time. The build starts this weekend, sounds grand, it is to me, a space to draw and make without falling over stuff…
I am still here honest, I’ve been continuing with my drawing and I think by number 33 in the series I seem to be making my mark…
I think this one is number 19 though I’ve found that I am very inconsistent in my tracking/recording and need to find a simple way to organise the photographs and detail shots-what is the best way to do that?
Also been out and about rather a lot seeing exhibitions and going to talks, most recently Psychoanalysis and Art Process with Grayson Perry in conversation with Valerie Sinason, Freud Museum http://www.freud.org.uk/events/75386/psychoanalysi…
and Richard Deacon in Conversation with Lewis Biggs Tate Britain http://www.tate.org.uk/whats-on/tate-britain/talks…

I’m not going to make any excuses for not blogging. I’ve just been busy with the other stuff of life, even had a mini holiday in Truro where I took lots of photo’s of dilapidated boats. Funny how the boat form is a recurring interest perhaps I should make one?
Its been ages I know. I’m developing the garland idea through drawing and when I’ve satisfied I’ve followed through on the drawings I’m going to make some more garlands. I may skip the framing because of the difficulty in maintaining them in the frame as they deteriorate…
It really is tricky maintaining art practice, talking about it on your blog and underpinning it with research. And despite promising that I would keep my online presence up-to-date I am nevertheless finding it exceptionally difficult…
I can see that others find aspects of practice difficult too, whether it’s how to bring work into being, show it, have an audience engage with it-or not- and pursue the right ‘opportunities’ with often lengthy applications
I feel I am discerning with my applications yet they seem to take an awful lot of time to complete and when I select images I fret at how long it is since I actually ‘practiced’ anything!
So this week I’m going to plan my studio days, stop procastinating and make sure I spend the allotted time actually playing around with one of the many ideas on my list
In the meantime here’s some images of fairly recent work…
