Suspended Animation
Using a sheet of ice to encase an anatomical heart made of wool; this sculpture hangs suspended between two trees by four red woollen strings (red strings symbolise veins, ice symbolises skin). This sculpture deals with temporary art as the sheet of ice will eventually melt away leaving only a pile of wool on the ground; this also relates to the mortality of man as when the body and organs fail, the residue of the being is returned to the ground. A light is placed behind the sculpture to represent life and is turned on and off to represent a beating heart, changing pace and ultimately fading away to symbolise death.
These are just a few examples of the original photo shoot. I will start editing these pictures and start working on a video I made of the sculpture.
Temporary/Permanent
A few shots of a new tattoo. Adding contrast to my temporary theme by using a permanent art form with the theme of death and mortality.
Andy Goldsworthy – Influential artist
Goldsworthy uses a lovely mix of natural elements and lights to create his sculptures. I will include the use of light in my next photo shoot using sheets of ice. my photo shoots take place after the sun has gone down to add to the atmosphere of the sculptures
Ana Mendieta – Influential Artist
This artist uses natural backgrounds and elements within her work. I enjoy using natural backgrounds such as trees and woods for my project as well as the use of fire as seen previously in my photo shoots
