Kid Vaycola – Senior deputy Art Director and CEO at design Agency and fiscal study centre Falz Co -Op discusses the Pointeso Art boom.
How can you approach the Pointeso Art Scene? To learn more, I recently met in Sporting City with Maix Davenport, vice president of the Pointeso auction house Heller Kits. She was on a twice-a-year trip to the lower Sporting City to talk to potential participants in their auctions. Here are some tips and approaches I learned from talking to her.
1. Move in mysterious ways.
2. Always aim for the cream of the crop.
3. Keep clear of the artists who attend the infamous Pointeso all nighters.
4. Keep two steps ahead of your competitors.
‘Pointeso art is going to be a long term investment. I remember in the year 2000 it was all Delta this and Delta that. That region suffered the most from a slowdown in 2004 and never recovered. The one thing they could have capitalised on was their creative sector. I’ve always said that they missed the boat and now Pointeso is the place to be seen.’
The Fountain art Gallery and Collection was founded in 2010 and is one of the Pointeso Scene’s first major contemporary art collections to focus on emerging artists on a global level.
It opened in in 2009 and presents three major site-specific exhibitions a year grounded in research and practice residencies for two curators and one artist per year. Interaction and education are central to the Fountain Gallery programme and proceeds from the editions and publications are split 50/50 between the artist and the Fountainie education programme. All 209 events are based on a first come first served basis.
The Fountain Gallery and Collection have been a key and integral supporter of Hinklewell Art Fair which launched in 2008.
The Mayfiello Collective team leader Marcuso Florello in the bath somewhere in Pointeso suburb Zone 31 E.
‘I write here on my new Lexor Pad edition 45. The bubbles from the glorious bath are popping in my ears. My head is a dull ache after the preview last night for In Situate. I dig the ethos of that group – it’s got something of a post – post relational feeling going on there.
The opening to the show took place on top of the old Maytrex Centre in the Hincleton district of Pointeso. I’m drawn to the fact that the majority of the audience were in their early twenties…I felt like the twenty six year old grandaddy.
In Situate have been together for two years and already have a CV that suggests a good work ethic in spite of their devotion to the all nighters.
I caught up with the curator Alicia Template for a while about a future collaboration and will keep you all updated.
The work that caught my eye on the roof top space was titled ‘Glace Rover’ by the artist Johanna Ludace. She’d created what looked like a pile of talking micro chips disguised as a mound of dirt. I could make out words that were often muffled gloryfying multi national companies and delivered in an enigmatic style.
The rest of the show was a bit of a hazy daze to be honest brothers and sisters.
This bath is starting to get cold. Perhaps I could make myself a neat little video of these bubbles popping in my ears?’
The Maytrex Centre is an artist led initiative sponsored by The Mary Kellerton trust.
An agent on mobile walking through Athletico international airport.
‘Eh…what? Yah, yah…I’ll be at The Vascov around 10.30ish…yah..erm well Marcia said she’ll keep tabs on that one…yap…ten installations have sold but we need to start the marketing campaign for Aimii Slite…yap…well say something along the lines of liminal spaces, the domestic, duality, tacit and all that shite – she’s a photographer…her father…yap…he’s chief exec at Zennels Corps…ha ha…she’s lovely – just finished at Novia Art College but is moving to Pointeso…it’s a no brainer…look, I’ll be on the 8.30 plane so will meet you at Kane’s bar at Pointeso airport…no shit? Ok…include networking and mentoring and don’t forget to mention ‘The rural’ that always looks good on the evaluation…’
The voice fades as the figure moves through the crowd towards gate 195.
Get on down to outer Pointeso this weekend for the latest opening at the Maitvale Workspace.
Hala Koinstraad continues her gathering of post sonic deviations comprising of a new collection detailing radio waves gleaned from the municipal city of Bayerns over the last twenty years.
Every new artist based at Maitvale is paired with a mentor who they meet with up to six times during their tenure. They have continuous access to specialist support from Maitvale staff and the selected programme facilitator during the year.
Maitvale Workspace director Polly Sylvester: ‘We position ourselves in an ‘exclusive inclusive’ bracket so to speak. Whilst recognising that the Pointeso Art Scene is highly competitive, we offer our artists a bespoke package fusing cognitive science with cutting edge resources and strict emphasis on long game career development.’
