Whilst looking at PGCE courses I have been having a think about what I want to teach in the future. As I said in a previous post, my end goal is to teach Art at a Prep School level (probably about KS2/3). Quite a few Prep Schools go up to Year 8 (as opposed to Year 6 like other schools), and so this would allow me to work over the 2 Key Stages.
However, I am aware that, at the moment, the demand for Art teachers in Prep Schools is not great. So, if I wish to make myself more employable, I may look at doing English alongside Art in my PGCE so that it gives me more opportunities when applying for jobs.
