New (Chinese) Year, new work so time to start a new blog, although it won’t be so different from the old one.
Helmets and leaf shapes
I’ve just done this small collage/drawing made from scraps from some cutting out of leaf shapes and the shape of a Greek/Cretan bronze helmet. I put it together because of the shapes but was thinking for a while what it suggests to me once finished and I’ve come up with Courage and Hope as a title. This is prompted from a listening recently to In our Time with Melvyn Bragg and panel talking about William Morris.
Two more collages
Here’s another attempt at stilling my mind! Working on these small pieces is also great for trying things out – in this case combining drawn and printed marks.
print, pen and pencil
Haven’t done a small collage in a while so here is one making use of some printed marks (yew) on paper from last year. I am feeling really out of sorts with all that is going on in the world. How to vote? How to resist? What to do other than make art and create a still place in my mind, if only temporarily.
