Old concrete machine plynths have been removed from the ground floor this week after work was stopped by the Harrington Factory Company over a year ago. The new floor will require insulation to meet new building regs.

Good news! Mediation is set for early January. Apparently, binding contracts can be drawn up on the day if both parties agree. We have been living with this for so long now that the idea of settlement seems like a fantasy. NFASP have been brilliant… I should have contacted them earlier as the problems we face are not unique. They have offered continued support. With clout and experience, it feels good to have them on our side. We have a few deadlines coming up for Stockholm including payment. It’s a learning curve… including international money transfers using IBAN numbers – apparently we all have them if we have a bank account. Images for the catalogue need to be uploaded by Sunday. We are deciding whether to compile a few books with work from all HMS artists to take with us. I understand it can be done quite cheaply through Blurb.com. We are flying with BA.

NFASP (National Federation of Artists’ Studio Providers)have got back to me. It feels comforting to belong to something much bigger. Someone is looking at the lease for us. The internet is great for researching cases but we look forward to hearing from someone experienced in studio leases.
Contacted NFASP about our case. Things are looking a bit more positive with the Harrington Factory Company and it looks like work will begin shorlty on the ground floor :)
