I popped inot the studio today to pick up work and it was a great chance to see Dan’s work without people around, especially after he had given a detailed account of his thought process. The show charts his journey from paintings containing figurative elements to work which is stripped of such references. As my work has gone in the opposite direction, it’s interesting to see how the bounderies between figurative and non-representational work begin to blur. It’s great to have Dan’s work at HMS ans I know the artists find it inspirational to have other artists visiting our studios.

We had a spiky debate at the mill today about non representational painting.

It’s not every day you get a cheque for £450 and you don’t know why. As it was from Kesteven District Council I guessed it wouldn’t be a mistake. Then it clicked. We had been successful in a bid for funding promotional bumf from the Design Factory http://www.designfactory.org.uk/ A quick phonecall to David confirmed that this was the case. We also have money which needs using up by July from another pot. Combined, we will nearly have enough money for good quality leaflets to promote all artists in the group. Useful for events both here and abroad.
