Spent much of today stripping the tatty bits of fabric off, giving the shed a brush up, then removing the fabric that isn’t vaguely red, white or blue.
I haven’t got my usual crew with me… Briony and Elaine have eschewed the shed for general festivity elsewhere. The weather forecast is looking pretty dire for the rest of the week so I’m doing it on my own. Mike offered to help, but I haven’t got time to “train him up”. So he’s on tea duty.
There is less R, W and B on the shed than I thought, and there are a couple of bits that are slightly greeny that I thought I’d be able to get away with, but as I put the new pieces up, it’s become obvious that they just won’t do.
I finished the back which is the worst bit as they are the longest strips and I have to do it squished up against the fence, and I invariably get pva smeared all over my sticky-out bits (of which there are many). The forecast is ok for the morning, so I’m wondering about getting up at the crack of dawn to do more, and then having an afternoon nap when I’ve finished.
I’ll need to sweep it out, and need to do somethng about the lace round the windows. When it went up last year it was white, and now has developed its own little micro-climate and eco system and things are looking decidedly greenish. I might get a toothbrush round it to clean it up. Also wondering if you can still get that whitener stuff that we used to tart up our green flash tennish shoes with in the olden days?
Oh God I feel so old.
