It was a good job I had the forethought to put a couple of quilts in the shed! I’ve been freezing! At one point this morning I was shivering so much I couldn’t draw! So I wrapped one quilt around my legs and another around my shoulders and hugged a mug of tea. The sun broke through the clouds for a while this afternoon and that made all the difference in the world, just as the visitors arrived. It got warm enough for Rachel to describe the shed as “quirky” but not its inhabitant as “stark raving bonkers”. I did a few ink and watercolours of the foliage around the garden. This was unexpected, as I’d planned to organise myslf, do a spot of writing, and sort out one of my poems/lyrics that needs a bit of work. Apart from being a bit chilly, it’s been lovely, I’ve listened to the ducklings and the sheep and the fish doing formation leaping out of the pond when they think no one’s watching. A mistlethrush played in the birdbath and two wagtails did John Travolta impressions across the lawn. Lovely. I’ve been productive, but with all the wrong things.
