Shetland Art Residency

It was still and sunny when Buttercup the Beetle and I parked up. We positioned ourselves so that I could see everything clearly, and within minutes the heavens opened and Buttercup was being rocked gently by a not-so-gentle gust.

It’s a day of witnessing the sky and water in intense communication. One pouring forth and the other accommodating the outpouring. The land and islands around Whiteness Voe bearing witness to pure nature.

The Sketchbook Project is the world’s largest collection of artist sketchbooks and is housed in Brooklyn, New York. I would say these boats were sunbathing, but not really this winter! They were having a rest from being immersed in the water, even if they hadn’t escaped completely.
