The final trip to Spurn brought realisations of how you can get so distracted in the materiality of objects rather than fluidity of your surroundings. I found myself seeking out plastics in a place they really shouldn’t be, I wanted the hazardous objects to be there because they made interesting visual art. I question my morals in this and reflect that through leaving many of the sculptures in this environment I am just to blame for the state of it as the audience my art is aimed at. Does it become redundant to make a statement about an issue whilst fueling the fire to do so?
Site Specific Spurn Art
This blog will document the live art I create at Spurn and my experience of the environment. Focusing on the 'psycho-geography' of the place I aim to explore all aspects of my surroundings, natural and synthetic.
